Silk Art By Claudia
Claudia Levy uses dyes and fabric paints to create
scarves, wall hangings, fans, floor screens and silk-faced
cards, as well as dresses, jackets, shawls and other wearable
art.
Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s
Renwick Gallery and her silk-faced cards have been sold at
the Renwick’s gift shop. She has been a member since 1989
of the Potomac Fiber Arts Gallery at Alexandria’s Torpedo
Factory Arts Center.
Her work has been exhibited at the Mansion at Strathmore
Hall and as part of a four-woman show at the Ratner Museum
in Bethesda. She has also exhibited at galleries in the Washington
region that include the Bead Museum, Waverly Gallery, Artisans
and the League of Maryland Craftsmen Gallery. Her work has
been sold at the Wayne James boutique in St. Croix and at
the former Moon, Blossoms and Snow gallery on Capitol Hill.
She was given the top award of the Surface Design Association
at the 2005 Creative Craft Council exhibition and an honorable
mention in a national arts exhibition at St. John’s College
in Annapolis.
