Grace Mahanes
My journey as an artist/crafter started as a knitter in
the 1950s when it was popular to knit socks for your boyfriend.
In the 1980s I knitted more sweaters than my family could
wear. That is when I joined the Potomac Fiber Arts Guild and
Gallery. Being a member of such a talented group inspired
me to try other mediums and techniques.
Today my favorite venue is wet felting. I make purses ,hats
,vessels, clothing and jewelry. I relish making felt flowers
. I use flowers for pins ,barrettes ,hats ,belts and necklaces.
Belonging to a felting study group and taking numerous felting
classes has opened up unlimited possibilities to feed my soul.
