Dorothy A. Miller
I have been sewing since I was ten years old. I have always
enjoyed working with fabric and color to make unique clothes.
I added a love of art and design at UCLA..
While following my army husband around for 17years, I looked
at art in many museums everywhere we went. After the army
we settled in Virginia and started our own consulting business.
To keep my mind alive, I became a docent at the Hirshhorn
Museum and Sculpture Garden where I gave tours for 30 years.
Since I have joined the Potomac Fiber Arts Gallery, I have
been able to combine my love of art and fabric into making
unique bags. I love the creative process of manipulating colors
and textures into my own designs. I draw on the art I’ve seen
in my travels in Japan (where I studied flower arranging),
Africa, China, Europe, India, Thailand, and the US. I particularly
love modern art and try to convey this fondness through all
of my designs. I enjoy my association with the Potomac Fiber
Arts Gallery as a way to indulge my creative impulses.
