Anna Yakubovskaya
I've worked with many different types of media my whole life,
with my initial exposure to mixed medias being from the V.I.
Mukhina Industrial Art Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The aesthetic of watercolor art really appeals to me, but
I also love working with textured materials, so when I learned
of silk painting I liked it from the start. It is a combination
of both textured material, silk, and watercolor-like colors
and effects. The availability of both soft, pastel colors
and bright, saturated colors allows for a great range of emotions
to show through in the works.
Another huge plus in silk painting is that it allows me to
create art that is both beautiful and useful, because it can
easily be used as a scarf, shawl or sarong as well as a wall
piece. You can find more examples of my art at www.aniutik.com.
